asdfl;kjas;lkdjslfkakls;ajfks;lajf. FRAG!

You have got to be joking. Of all the ridiculous things to find out about, today I discover that some Nerfherder has copyrighted the Pi symbol. That's right. This little symbol.

π

How dare they! This symbol is over 3000 years old! It represents mathematically the ratio of the diameter of a circle to its circumference. It's also the letter P in Greek.

Pi doesn't belong to you! Pi belongs to everyone!! No frelling Sithspit is going to take Pi away from me or anyone else. To do so is not only illogical but completely irrational, no pun intended.

I just have one thing to say to you!!

Just for that, my next novel shall be titled π

I'm not sure if I should find this sad or enraging. I wish it weren't legally possible for anyone to do something like this, but unfortunately it is. I'm sorry, Inui-han.

I agree completely. And under the circumstances that the symbol is not his, I'd be more inclined to think that he can't claim it as intellectual property either. Unfortunately copywriting doesn't work that way, and he has every right to claim it, seeing as he did use it for his shirts, and therefore it became his intellectual property. He can own the Pi symbol, but at least he'll never own the rights to Pi.

It's not a very nice thing that he did, though. I'm not sure why they awarded him that right in the first place. Not when it's used for many more things than just t-shirts.
